What is the latest news on Britney Spears? Has she done anything else silly recently? Personally I feel sorry for the girl .. she's gone down the slippery road and nearly hit rock bottom. Hopefully having her kids taken away from her will be her wake up call. I feel Britney is suffering from severe depression and has been unable to cope with the pressure of being a mum and her marriage break up. Her drinking is her escape goat to push down all the guilt she is carrying on her shoulders. She needs to help herself and be serious about rehab, give up the booze and start building a relationship with her kids. What do you think?
Do you think that britney spears can recover ? Ok so of course we have all heard about britney spears latest news. "Spears asks fans to name her new album". Calling all creative smart @sses...? I just noticed this latest Britney Spears news story and yes I'm sick of her too but this is funny... "Spears asks fans to name her new album" http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070614/ap_on_en_mu/people_spears First of, all if you want to vote on the title of her new alum you must be a member of her fan club (does she have fans?) and it will cost you $24.99 a year to join. YOU HAVE TO PAY HER TO BE A FAN? So for those of us who would rather spend $24.99 on a dead worm than spend it on Britney Spears, what are your suggestions for the title of her upcoming album? what do u think about the latest news on Jamie Lynn Spears? personally i think she should have protected herself if she wanted to have sex. also now that they are questioning her boyfriend being the baby's father......she shouldn't have cheated on him. i'm starting to think she's turning out to be like her sister....Britney. someone needs to talk to Jamie before she really screws up. not bi or lesbian here but i do think she is a pretty young lady who could have a great life going for her. also i have thought about the possibility that she's just doing all this....even lying to get attention from the press.

Is this fair? I posted the question on Y!A "Do you care about the latest Britney news? A radio poll showed that 7 out 10 people want to hear the latest Britney news, what do the people on Y!A think?" and about 1/3 of the answers said "Britney who?" and under additional details I wrote "Britney Spears". a couple hours later I got an email from Y!A saying that I had violated the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service for chatting (which I didn't even know I was doing!) Should I have received this violation?
Is this latest Yahoo! News headline about PARIS HILTON: Scientists find parasitic star? http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20070912/sc_space/bizarreparasiticstarfound Is this about Paris Hilton and her destructive relationships with others like Britney Spears?
Britney Spears question in this section =)? Maybe I should ask this elsewhere in the entertainment section...? ...but who thinks Britney Spears would be a better mom without the paparazzi? I think she is "ruined" now...but I think (yell at me if you wish) they are to blame for being in her face 24/7. I couldn't handle it. I feel bad for her as a mom. Don't ask me why I give a darn...just was watching the news and saw the latest footage of her going to the hospital. I wanted other "normal" moms' input.
Help Britney!!!? The latest news displayed on Yahoo is that Britney Spears has run over a photographers foot while trying to back up while her car was surrounded by photographers. If you have watched this video on utube or the hit and run video on utube, you will notice that Britney is being harrassed by these photographers and one of these days someone is going to get hurt, does this have to be another Diana story? Dont they realize that they are driving her crazy, just leave the poor girl alone. I really feel that they are crossing the line.... Does anyone agree?????!!@!??? And for all you people who say she wants the attention give me a break, she is out going to get food, or dorcotrs appointments, you saying she should stay home? That is NOT fair!! How would you like it if you had to stay home?
Britney Spears wants at least one million dollars to pose for Playboy...Fair or Ridiculous? Playboy won't pay for Britney | Posted Sep 17th 2007 4:06PM by Anne Metz Filed under: Style in the media, Celebrity Style If her embarrassing performance at the VMAs was any sort of indication of Britney Spears' future success then I think we can all say that a star has fallen. Should you need any tangible evidence of her decline, consider her latest PR disaster. The National Ledger reports that Playboy is only willing to shell out $400,000 to have Spears pose nude for a magazine feature. Britney insists that she won't take off her clothes for less than seven figures, a sum that has been scoffed at by editor/founder/whatever Hugh Hefner. Boffo! Can we all just agree that this is good news? Seriously, we've seen all there is to see of Britney Spears for free. The only thing Playboy could add to that is some air-brushing and good lighting, which would be a small improvement, but not enough to make up for the fact that no one out there wants to see that woman naked. (If I'm wrong about this, please let me know.) You know that saying about how you can't put the toothpaste back into the tube? Well, I think that pretty much sums up Britney Spears.
DId Dr. Phil cancel the Britney show? LOS ANGELES - Television's "Dr. Phil" McGraw has pulled the plug on plans for a one-hour show that was to examine Britney Spears' latest public meltdown. ADVERTISEMENT In a statement posted Monday on his Web site, McGraw said the 26-year-old pop star's situation was "too intense" for him to go forward with the show. He didn't say whether he planned to reschedule. Spears was hospitalized Thursday night after a child custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline resulted in an hours-long standoff with police. On Friday, a court commissioner gave sole physical and legal custody of 1-year-old Jayden James and 2-year-old Sean Preston to Federline. McGraw said he met with Spears for an hour Saturday before she left the hospital. (This was from yahoo news)
Did you hear Britney Spears tried suicide ? Why isn't the American Media reporting this ? http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1501119/story.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=10427103 Britney Spears rehab suicide bid Email this storyPrint this story 3:00PM Monday March 05, 2007 A recent New Idea cover showing Britney shortly before she checked into rehab 10 days ago. Britney Spears attempted suicide in rehab last week, according to The News of the World. The paper claims Britney also wrote devil's number, 666, on her shaved head and began screaming "I am the Antichrist!" at frightened clinic staff. "She was crying, and shouting, 'I am the Antichrist!' a source told the paper. "The clinic people just didn't know what to do. Then she started screaming, 'I'm a fake! I'm a fake!' It must have been really frightening. "Later that night she tried to kill herself," the source said. "Paramedics were called, but luckily she was unhurt." "When she tried to kill herself it was more a cry for help." The strange action
(Last answer will be selected as best!) In a conversation, what would you be more likely to bring up? Put yourself in the situation as if the issue had been in the news lately a) Britney Spears' latest fling b) celebrity catfight c) global warming d) Lindsay Lohan in rehab e) child abuse f) malnutrition g) Brad Pitt coming out of a stripper's bar h) Nicole Kidman in court Please select more than one, if you can. Also say what you would think would be most likely to be brought up Okay, I'm not angry that some of you put 'None of the above', but if you feel that's the best way to answer, go ahead, though I'd much rather have answers that tell me something
Who Agrees Paparazzi Are Jerks? I mean...come on. The latest on Britney Spears was that she ran over some guys' foot while driving out of a parking garage or something. It was right after she found out she lost visitation with her kids...give the girl a break! She's having a HARD time right now! The paparzzi are way out of line, and should STOP. Taking pictures of someone is one thing, and totally ruining someone's life is another. The way they go about it with Britney, is totally and completely unhuman. They surround her car, taking pictures, yelling at her. How would they like it if someone did it to them??? I know that it's not fun at all, and it's totally rude. Doesn't anyone agree with me that the paparazzi need to back off? Seems everytime people like Britney are in the news, the reason the situation happened was because the paparazzi were hounding them! Does anyone agree with me that they are total jerks and need to back off?
Did you hear about the latest teenage pregnancy? No surprise really, but Britney Spears' 16-year-old sister Jamie is rumored to be pregnant! Here's the link to the article: http://news.aol.com/the-cooler-blog/2007/07/25/jamie-lynn-spears-pregnant/ Sad that there are so many teenage pregnancies. It's apparent every day when I read the questions on here! For all you people slamming the source, I used the word "rumored to be pregnant." I have no idea if it's a fact. But the National Enquirer DOES report a lot of things that end up being true! The alien babies tabloid is NOT the Enquirer, they are strictly celeb news.
Why are so we obsessed with the latest CELEBRITY meltdown? It's so sad how interested everyone is with Britney Spears meltdown or Paris Hilton's night life! It's even more pathetic when it makes it on National news! Don't you think their is something wrong with this picture? Tell me what you think.
Do you believe that the news feeds our fears and invites more bad events to happen? I notice that if one tragic event happens, a week later, or month later, if something similar happens, the news dwells on it? Do you remember the Crocodile Hunter and the sting ray? All of a sudden people were afraid of them. And on the Today show, they interviewed a man who was stabbed by one the next week. Like that ever made the news before? And here in Philly, every morning they report the numbers of the people who were killed overnight--they say, "now the death toll is up to 315 this year..." Isn't that inviting more people to kill, like they want to increase the number? And people like Britney Spears, does it seem like we are drawn to watch one's demise than one's healing?
Does anyone care about music anymore? It seems to me that the industry is in a new phase where the musicians are becoming more important than their music. We hear tirelessly on legitimate news venues about people like Britney Spears, or the latest scandal so-and-so was in, or how Fergie was spotted working out. Even in rock and roll forums and magazines people are more concentrated on gossip and the details of the musicians than anyone really cares about listening to their album, or seeing their live performance. How much do you care about what your favorite musician ate for breakfast?
What do you make of the latest Britney Spears news? Though I've always thought of her a crazy, I also thought she was incredibly self-centered and needed to be a better mother. Now, I kinda feel sorry for her and hope she gets the help she needs. What is your take on it and do you think she'll be able to overcome this? mrs.nikita_ramirez: When people say it's good for her kids, they mean she's obviously a very mentally sick person. She nees help in getting her life together in order to be a better mother. Though I'm sure she loves her children, she's too sick to be the best mom she can be so does need help. I don't think it's fair to blame this on the public. Blame it on all the pressure she faced from ppl aroudn her to be a superstar and the fact that she never had a chance to have a normal childhood and doesn't have anyone she can truly trust around her.
Who Decides What is News Worthy ... And What is It Based ON? Look at the coverage on the escapes of Britney Spears, or on the Paternity of Anna Nicole's Baby ... Does the American/ or the International Public REALLY want NON-STOP details during EVERY television broadcast and in EVERY publication??? Also, why did we have NON-STOP and Round-the-Clock coverage regarding the disappearances of Lacy Peterson, Elizabeth Smart, and Natalee Holloway ... Yet, when Megan Williams (A Black Woman) was held Hostage for a Week and was subjected to rape and other atrocities ... This story bearly got a "blur." We are STILL getting NEWS COVERAGE and Retrospectives on DEAD Celebrities like Elvis Presley, Princess Diana, and Marilyn Monroe. Yet, when Yolanda King the oldest child of Martin Luther King Jr. and his Activist wife the late Coretta Scott King ... when Yolanda died earlier this year ... Where was the RETROSPECTIVE on HER LIFE ... She was an Actress AND an ACTIVIST. She and Her Parents left a TREMENDOUS legacy! Yet, bearly a BLUR!
help on essay about celebrity role models...10 pts!!? i need help with revising the second paragraph most. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!! Should Celebrities and Athletes take Responsibility in Being a Role Model? Why are there so many athletes and celebrities these days failing as role models? Should they bear any responsibility at all for being role models to society? After all, they are the people whom we look up to; especially children and young adults. At some point of our lives, (no matter how old) we have had some kind of role model, for most it was a celebrity or sports figure; a role model was anyone appealing. Now the sad thing is in today’s society, we put way too much emphasis on these role models. We manipulate or adopt what we see like clothing, behavior, hairstyles, and actions; the media. In other words, Hollywood sets the norms, and society follows. This is one of the reasons why it is critical that celebrities and athletes need to recognize their impact upon the public. Children are always watching and observing adult behavior partly because adults are the ones who have answers to questions. While parents can control what children are exposed to, they cannot completely shield children from the onslaught of Hollywood trends that flash in front of their eyes: commercials, billboards, movies, and on tv. “I am a role model and if I don’t step up or stand up for the issues that are important to the people, then I take just as much to blame as a 50 cent or a Snoop Dogg.” Rapper KRS-One once said during a telephone interview (McKevie 1). There are those celebrities out there who are willing to take the consequences and responsibility of their actions, and KRS-One is one of the few. As I was growing up, I remember that the major celebrities of that time were people like Britney Spears. I used to idolize Britney Spears like many others, up until the time she started going downhill. Back in the late 90’s, she was famous for her beauty, singing, and personality. But now she is popular for the opposite; to have a laugh out of her because of the sluttyness, drugs, and divorce, etc. When a junior high student was asked what he thought of Spears now, this is what he said: “I used to like Britney Spears when I was younger…I mean, she shaved her head for Pete’s sake. What’s going on with her?” (McKevie 2). So, why is it that the media publicizes more of the negative side of Hollywood? I think it is because in reality, people tend to be more interested and engaged in the Hollywood scandals. Hence, it also makes a lot of money and brings in millions of viewers. For example, the TV show, “TMZ” exposes celebrities and athletes in reality, and shows the ugly side of the famous. When it first aired on the Internet in 2005, it had 120 plus viewers per month, (an additional 9 million compared to “Extra” and “Access Hollywood”) (FOX news 1).

Can anyone translate this into Spanish? Traslate this please! "Today's top news is Britney Spears was seen near a restraurant in Hollywood drunk and driving last night again with not her husband Kevin Federline, but with another man again. The police told us that she'll get her license taken away sooner or later. Next the movie Beowulf which opened last friday, was a great success. It topped the box office this week. It also received great reviews from the critics. Lastly, the American Music awards this Monday was also a success. The winners are....." and also, can you translate these phrases also? Can anyone provide me with some point by point rebuttal on this article "Cult of Amateurs"? The Cult of the Amateur Sign In to E-Mail or Save This Print Share Digg Facebook Newsvine Permalink By MICHIKO KAKUTANI Published: June 29, 2007 Digital utopians have heralded the dawn of an era in which Web 2.0 — distinguished by a new generation of participatory sites like MySpace.com and YouTube.com, which emphasize user-generated content, social networking and interactive sharing — ushers in the democratization of the world: more information, more perspectives, more opinions, more everything, and most of it without filters or fees. Yet as the Silicon Valley entrepreneur Andrew Keen points out in his provocative new book, “The Cult of the Amateur,” Web 2.0 has a dark side as well. Skip to next paragraph Catherine Betts Andrew Keen THE CULT OF THE AMATEUR How Today’s Internet Is Killing Our Culture By Andrew Keen 228 pages. Doubleday. $22.95. Tony Cenicola/The New York Times Mr. Keen argues that “what the Web 2.0 revolution is really delivering is superficial observations of the world around us rather than deep analysis, shrill opinion rather than considered judgment.” In his view Web 2.0 is changing the cultural landscape and not for the better. By undermining mainstream media and intellectual property rights, he says, it is creating a world in which we will “live to see the bulk of our music coming from amateur garage bands, our movies and television from glorified YouTubes, and our news made up of hyperactive celebrity gossip, served up as mere dressing for advertising.” This is what happens, he suggests, “when ignorance meets egoism meets bad taste meets mob rule.” This book, which grew out of a controversial essay published last year by The Weekly Standard, is a shrewdly argued jeremiad against the digerati effort to dethrone cultural and political gatekeepers and replace experts with the “wisdom of the crowd.” Although Mr. Keen wanders off his subject in the later chapters of the book — to deliver some generic, moralistic rants against Internet evils like online gambling and online pornography — he writes with acuity and passion about the consequences of a world in which the lines between fact and opinion, informed expertise and amateurish speculation are willfully blurred. For one thing, Mr. Keen says, “history has proven that the crowd is not often very wise,” embracing unwise ideas like “slavery, infanticide, George W. Bush’s war in Iraq, Britney Spears.” The crowd created the tech bubble of the 1990s, just as it created the disastrous Tulipmania that swept the Netherlands in the 17th century. Mr. Keen also points out that Google search results — which answer “search queries not with what is most true or most reliable, but merely what is most popular” — can be manipulated by “Google bombing” (which “involves simply linking a large number of sites to a certain page” to “raise the ranking of any given site in Google’s search results”). And he cites a recent Wall Street Journal article reporting that hot lists on social networking Web sites are often shaped by a small number of users: that at Digg.com, which has 900,000 registered users, 30 people were responsible at one point for submitting one-third of the postings on the home page; and at Netscape.com, a single user was behind 217 stories over a two-week period, or 13 percent of all stories that reached the most popular list in that period. Because Web 2.0 celebrates the “noble amateur” over the expert, and because many search engines and Web sites tout popularity rather than reliability, Mr. Keen notes, it’s easy for misinformation and rumors to proliferate in cyberspace. For instance, the online encyclopedia Wikipedia (which relies upon volunteer editors and contributors) gets way more traffic than the Web site run by Encyclopedia Britannica (which relies upon experts and scholars), even though the interactive format employed by Wikipedia opens it to postings that are inaccurate, unverified, even downright fraudulent. This year it was revealed that a contributor using the name Essjay, who had edited thousands of Wikipedia articles and was once one of the few people given the authority to arbitrate disputes between writers, was a 24-year-old named Ryan Jordan, not the tenured professor he claimed to be. Since contributors to Wikipedia and YouTube are frequently anonymous, it’s hard for users to be certain of their identity — or their agendas. Postings about political candidates, for instance, can be made by opponents disguising their motives; and propaganda can be passed off as news or information. For that matter, as Mr. Keen points out, the idea of objectivity is becoming increasingly passé in the relativistic realm of the Web, where bloggers cherry-pick information and promote speculation and spin as fact. Whereas historians and journalists traditionally strived to deliver the best available truth possible, many bloggers revel in their own subjectivity, and many Web 2.0 users simply use the Net, in Mr. Keen’s words, to confirm their “own partisan views and link to others with the same ideologies.” What’s more, as mutually agreed upon facts become more elusive, informed debate about important social and political issues of the day becomes more difficult as well. Although Mr. Keen’s objections to the publishing and distribution tools the Web provides to aspiring artists and writers sound churlish and elitist — he calls publish-on-demand services “just cheaper, more accessible versions of vanity presses where the untalented go to purchase the veneer of publication” — he is eloquent on the fallout that free, user-generated materials is having on traditional media. Mr. Keen argues that the democratized Web’s penchant for mash-ups, remixes and cut-and-paste jobs threaten not just copyright laws but also the very ideas of authorship and intellectual property. He observes that as advertising dollars migrate from newspapers, magazines and television news to the Web, organizations with the expertise and resources to finance investigative and foreign reporting face more and more business challenges. And he suggests that as CD sales fall (in the face of digital piracy and single-song downloads) and the music business becomes increasingly embattled, new artists will discover that Internet fame does not translate into the sort of sales or worldwide recognition enjoyed by earlier generations of musicians. “What you may not realize is that what is free is actually costing us a fortune,” Mr. Keen writes. “The new winners — Google, YouTube, MySpace, Craigslist, and the hundreds of start-ups hungry for a piece of the Web 2.0 pie — are unlikely to fill the shoes of the industries they are helping to undermine, in terms of products produced, jobs created, revenue generated or benefits conferred. By stealing away our eyeballs, the blogs and wikis are decimating the publishing, music and news-gathering industries that created the original content those Web sites ‘aggregate.’ Our culture is essentially cannibalizing its young, destroying the very sources of the content they crave.”
i just had a dream that an asteroid is going to hit earth? in my vision (dream) it was night time for days and days and everyone was going crazy wondering what happened it was on the news and everything and suddenly on T.V... "BREAKING NEWS! NASA has discovered an asteroid will soon it Earth!" the news anchor says. It was like a huge deal to all of america kinda like britney spears going crazy and america standing by to see what happens next, well it was the same just a little different we were waiting to die and then like millions of people all went outside and looked at the sky and there was a flickering red light in the air and it was coming closer very slowly and it was getting bigger then we saw that it was fire and it got so close and my heart was racing and i was hugging my mom and 4 days later after camping outside it was daylight again only to see a huge rock coming towards my face and i wanted to die my heart was racing then i woke up... all of my dreams come true :(
Have you read this? The young star is in a fight for her life against mental illness. By Asra Q. Nomani February 12, 2008 I'll never forget the first time I saw my brother strapped to a gurney. I was just a teen, and he'd been diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder, an illness akin to schizophrenia that causes mood swings, psychosis and violent outbursts. Our family had just committed him for psychiatric treatment, and I wept, shouting into the air, "I want my brother back." At home, my parents sobbed. But at least we went through this anguish in private. So it's impossible for me to find any entertainment value in the public harassment of Britney Spears, who was released from the psychiatric ward of UCLA Medical Center last week. And as a journalist, I doubt there is news value in it either. Mental illness doesn't always elicit compassion; it's hard to see, so it's hard to understand. Perhaps in the wake of Spears' breakdown, California mental health advocates will lobby to change the state's involuntary commitment laws so that those who are sick get treatment, even if they don't realize how badly they need it. In the meantime, all of us should reflect on the fact that we wouldn't be so cruel to somebody diagnosed with another disease. Would we make a sideshow of someone with a brain tumor? It's easy to blame the paparazzi and celebrity gossip websites, and, granted, they are the worst. TMZ promoted a video of Spears crying with the headline, "Britney Spears on Suicide Watch?" Over a photo of Spears sitting on a curb after her fight with her manager, PerezHilton.com scrawled "Britwreck." But the mainstream media are complicit. After Spears' release (over the objection of her family), A.J. Hammer, host of CNN's "Showbiz Tonight," stumbled over the pronunciation of Spears' supposed medications; the words "Burning Britney Questions!" rolled across the bottom of the screen. "Britney's Mental Illness" was the cover of a recent People magazine. The Daily Telegraph's website featured this headline: "Mad Britney Spears detoxed by doctors," with a link, "See pictures of the drama here." By exploiting Spears' moment of vulnerability, media companies have crossed the line of basic moral decency. To me, this includes Wenner Media, owner of US Weekly and Rolling Stone, which just published an expose of Spears' mental illness, and even Barbara Walters, who recently reported on Spears' mental health issues on "The View." Enough. Time Warner Inc. (parent of CNN, People, AOL and Entertainment Weekly), News Corp. (the Rupert Murdoch firm that owns Fox News and papers around the globe) and others should halt all coverage of Spears until she is healthy. Let's leave Britney and her family alone. Responsible journalists long ago came to the ethical determination not to publish the names of rape victims or to air the most gruesome of terrorist videos. We can do the same here. We can get off this maniacal roller coaster that is Britney Spears coverage to remember one important fact: This is a 27-year-old in a fight for her life. My role model in this debate is photographer Nick Stern, who quit his job Feb. 1 with the Splash news agency because he couldn't stomach shooting the Spears story any longer. "It's not journalism. Sooner or later, someone's going to get killed," he told the Independent in London. "Possibly Britney herself." Even aspiring journalists are making the right call. At Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies, where I'm a journalism professor, senior Erin Delmore walked off the set of a campus TV talk show. "I'm so done with the Britney coverage," she said. "End it." Last week, I wrote to my editor at People and told her that I couldn't continue working as a stringer for the magazine. I'm not being holier than thou. I wasn't always kind to my brother about his illness. I scolded and nagged him. I called him lazy when he didn't make his bed, unmotivated when he didn't get a job and uncaring when he forgot our birthdays. It's taken more than 20 years for me to understand, deep within my soul, that his mental illness is like a brain tumor, or cancer, or diabetes. It is a disease. It has symptoms such as anosognosia, which means that a person doesn't think they have an illness, and flat affect, which saps emotional expressiveness. Right now, there is no cure. When I realized not long ago how cruel I had been, I told my brother what I now tell Britney and her family: "I'm sorry."
