Why do so many posed photos of pop stars/actors get them to look expressionlessly at the camera? These are obviously posed photos as not a hair is out of place, clothes are perfect, but when I flick through the pages of some magazines it seems like every photo gets the subject to employ the same confident, deadpan, stare at camera. To me it is just a technique to make people without strong character appear 'cool'. I find it really annoying and boring for that reason. What do others think?

Why is there such a large obsession with celebrities? This "cult" as i call it has gotten so large over the past few years that it is at worrying levels. Celebrities ahev always been around - since the first movies, football teams, television shows, there have always been people in showbusiness liked by the public. But in recent years, people become celebrities for the oddest reasons - to the point they are categorised in class and importance. People obsess about them - much like teenage girls following a pop star, these people, well into their 20s and 30s, buy magazines religiously because they want to see photos of some person in the usa who has sweat marks under their arm pits. Celebrity magazines make people celebrities to sell more magazines. And really, these people arent famous for any reason besides the magazines saying so. Gossip columns are one thing - this IS obsession. Are we as a society so insecure to find our own role models we allow tabloids, tv and magazines to dictate them to us?

Can you remember the comic book characters from when you were young? I was looking at my 11 year old daughters magazine and basicly it's full of photos of semi clad pop stars and girls beauty hints. When I was 11 my comics had people like "Captain Hurrican" a marine who would erupt into a "raging fury" and be able to tip German tanks over with his bare hands. What do you think will eventually happen to this culture? It is a country with a 1000+ year history. This country has a very rich cultural past and wonderful traditions that go back perhaps millennia; however they don’t care, they are in love with the West and are constantly trying to forget who they are by borrowing Western traditions and forgetting their own. The culture is suffering; it is a Catholic country, perhaps the only Catholic country that now celebrates Halloween! Pop stars and other celebrities are changing their surnames to more American/English sounding surnames! Modern stories/books and movies are based on English mythology – but this is a Slavic country we are talking about, whose mythology is just as rich if not richer! Everywhere you look in newspapers, magazines there is evidence of this – its like brainwashing, everywhere you look they are trying to change the culture into something completely new. The language is suffering, and it is in the language that it’s most apparent. Loan words, completely useless loan words are being introduced to the language every day! Old words are being replaced by words of English origin, old phrases and traditions are being replaced by ones of English origin. You could say that the language is becoming pidgin language, a sort of mix of English and the original language. Countless numbers of young people are leaving the country to work in the West; there are numerous villages and even small cities with virtually no young people! Those that leave marry into other nationalities, and the estimates for people that left are astonishing! 15+ million young people for a country that had 40 million people at most. I am from this country, and I once cared, but now I could care less, I divorced myself from my nationality so to avoid the pain of watching it die

Has Disney become a purveyor of no talent? Ok, so I recently discovered who Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers are via my niece who is about 12. She begged and begged me to listen to a few songs in the car so I did, and although I did not tell her, these people are god-awful. No talent, can't sing, etc etc. What's worse is that I later discovered that these these "pop stars" are being discovered and churned out by Disney, as if Disney has some kind of pre teen pop sensation factory where they manufacture these kids. Lastly I discovered that these people, Miley Cyrus in particular, are starting to be featured on tabloids and teen magazines and the like with stories about how they have immense fortunes and party non-stop etc. I read a little bit and some of the content of the tabloids, et al are a blatantly bad influence for some of the teen aged fans. Does Disney really stand behind this?
