Early/mid 90s- a Christian Artist whose music sounds like Criss Angels does? Who is it? Racking my brain here! It was a one man band I think. Very goth sounding yet lyrics were ambiguously christian. I looked at Criss Angel and saw he did music in the 90s but not early enough for this artist. The singer kinda looked like Criss too. The CD was weird and gothic looking but the sound was like electronica/metal/goth/techno. It may be AngelDust (Criss' band but I don't think they were around say 96,97....Please someone help me I am racking my brain it hurts.

Please compare/contrast music industries of Christian Vs Pop/AC Music? For Singer-songwriters? I just recently started listening to Christian music and I've been considering "switching over" from the secular writing I do to writing "Contemporary Christian" pop. What would be some good references for me to learn more about the CC Music industry? Does it work pretty much the same as the secular industry? Are there signed *and* indie artists? (if so, name good examples of indie CC artists, please)? I would probably be more interested in becoming an independent artist regardless of genre, although I have a pretty good idea of what it takes to become a secular, indie artist. What would be the differences should I switch over? Any books, websites, or tips from people who have real answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What is the name of this Christian song, and who sings it? I have only heard this song a few times. It came out before 1995 and was featured on an album of various Christian contemporary artists. What I remember of the chorus is as follows: “We like sheep have gone astray Every one turning to his own way, We rejected and we despised him." The end of the song was something like this: “And, oh, few believed him, Who would listen, who’d be saved. The man of many sorrows, Christ came and…" (I don’t quite remember) Song was had a pretty slow tempo, male singer and if I remember correctly was done with an acoustic guitar. Any help would be appreciated. All I have found it something by Don Moen, somebody named Handel George Frideric, Christmas music and some other odds and ends. Thank you in advance.
Is it possible to train your own voice? Ok so Ive always loved to sing, always. I used to sing so much my mom would ask me to stop. I can sing quite high in my opinion, up there with christina aguilera, charlotte church and sarah brightman sometimes. I listened and sang to Maria Carey when I was younger, as well as Patsy Cline, Sarah McLachlan, Shania Twain and soo soo many more artists. I sing alot of different types of music, country, opera, christian, etc. All I have to do is listen to a song a few times and then I can sing it, matching the notes perfectly. Everyone tells me Im a great singer, but Ive never had voice lessons and I cant even read music. Is it possible that I've trained my voice myself, since I sing all the time, and have always since I was very young. Im 20 now btw.

Lyrics to "My Beloved"? This isn't really a question, but rather a shout out to nascarchic4gordon. I was looking for the same song you were and I finally found it. The song itself is actually called "Only One Love". It's on a CD called "Shake off the Dust", put together by Vineyard record labels. No artist is named in particular, but the lead singer is David Ruis. You can search for it on a number of Christian websites, but you'll likely have to pay about 15 bucks plus shipping. The CD came out in 2000, so you might even be able to find it in a music store like Barnes and Noble or a Christian music store (I have no idea what that would be but if you know of one, congrats).
how did some of these rappers& singers lose their record deal? Guess Who Lost Their Record Deal? Nobody is going to give you a record deal. You have to prove you can sell. In fact major record labels are cutting their own big named artists who are not selling. Here is a list of all the artists who were dropped by major record labels in 2007. ***Add Omarion to this list he recently lost his record deal*** Airbourne Alexz Johnson Alkaline Trio Amerie And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead… Annie Steela Ari Hest Aslyn Big Pooh and Little Brother Blood Brothers Bo Bice Brendan James Brett Ryan Christian Daniel Christina Milian CMurder Dandy Warhols DMX Fischerspooner From First To Last Goldie Hedley IMA Robot INXS JC Chasez Jewel J-Kwon Joe Budden Kelis — Yes Nas’ wife Kevin Devine King Elementary Liz Phair Melissa Auf der Mar Men, Women and Children Moby Mooney Suzuki Natalie Warner Nine Inch Nails Northern State Otep Over It P.O.D. Paris Hilton Paul McCartney — He was one of the Beatles Phase 9 Prophet Omega Radiohead Reeve Oliver Ronnie Day Ruben Studdard Shaggy Shout Out Louds Skye Sweetnam Sound Team Sparklehorse Stacie Orrico Sugarcult Summer Obsession The Clipse The Donnas The Music The Outline The Redwalls The Vines What About Frank White Stripes All the acts that lost major label deals in 2007 [Hollywood Insider] Listen to me people, especially teenagers, record labels are only signing people who proved they can sell. Why? They’re loosing millions of dollars to illegal downloading! To get a deal you have to make your own album, market it online, and get everybody listening to your song (like Soulja Boy did). IT TAKES TIME AND A LITTLE MONEY. My website tells you how to do do this. Everyday I receive hundreds of emails and comments from people trying to get in the music business. Most of them sound like this ‘All I need is a chance. Singing is my heart, I’m really good, I have a God given talent’. Maybe you do, but millions of people across the world are saying the same thing. Watch American Idol, they all believe that. Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is You have to Invest in Your career. Have you made a demo? Have you ever recorded in a studio? It’s not enough to write songs in a lyric book. It does not happen like a fairy tale or movie. You have to work at it. I posted a video clip of Destiny’s Child talking about how long it took them to break in the game. It’s a lot of work. They invested a lot of time and money. There are some people who have a Fantasia Barrino type story. They audition for something, get the part, and the rest is history. This rarely happens. Ask Fantasia herself, her record label is considering dropping her. They already dropped Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks. The best way to seal your career is to do what Soulja Boy did. Get a job, save some money, build a home recording studio ($1500-$2000 see the article I posted earlier about owning a home recording studio), make an album or demo, and promote it all over the Internet. Soulja Boy owns over 85% of his song rights. Most artists don’t get this much control, but since Soulja Boy marketed himself labels came to him. The labels had to listen to him because they wanted Soulja Boy’s fan market. If Soulja Boy never made another song, he’d still have money (royalty checks) coming. Ruben Studdard and Taylor hicks do not. This website does not give out record deals, but we tell you how to be financially successful as a recording artists. Read the articles, have faith, work hard, and invest time and money in your recording career. God gave you the talent, but remember we all reap what we sew. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ copied and pasted from http://jamilleluney.wordpress.com/2008/05/29/you-have-to-invest-in-your-music-career/ and plzzz dont come in here callin me gay or whatever else yall be calling me because i was being sarcastic with the soulja boy answers, besides we should be even since yall got me suspended with 27 violations all at one time at level 3 so cant we all just be friends??? i was wonderin because alot of ppl still talk about them so why aint they sellin if they sooo good? i do and i used to be a 2pac stan when i was 15 i didnt like him at first but he grew on me plus i know the diffrence between real rap and radio mess and i learned to tolerate both yea most of the time i listen to it at parties or when i feel like doing the dance, but when i wanna listen to lyrics i go back to 2pac and lil wayne or somebody so i got it all organized it thats ok,the only south artist i can get into is the ones that dance but young joc and the rest who think they can rap i hate them. i will i was just gettin a kick outta havin so many thumbs downs lol i quit

One of their cd's was black with a silver tree frog on it. This is driving me crazy!!!
could you please give me some feedback on my first college essay? When I was little I used to think that music was stupid and that there was no point to it. Then, all of a sudden, my mom decided that it would be good for me to join my cousin to sing in a choir in a Christian Church in Chinatown. At first, I resented this and refused to sing during recitals, but slowly, I grew to like it. I remember the part that I liked best about choir was learning how to play Beethoven’s 9th Symphony on the recorder. Soon, after this, my parents took me out so I could go for extra help in math, since it was not one of my best subjects. By this time I was in the third grade going to a small Catholic school in my neighborhood. The school was offering a new course to the students: band. My parents made me sign up for band; they thought it would be advantageous for me to take it. The handout said that playing an instrument would help students academically and improve hand-eye coordination, which were two things I needed help in. I had my first band class in October and was placed in the group with about ten other third, fourth, and fifth graders; we were called “Group D” because there were too many people who signed up to play the flute. That day we learned how to make a sound just using the mouthpiece. I immediately caught on, and in a couple months, the band director asked me if I wanted to move up to Group A, where the sixth, seventh and eighth graders were. I said yes. I felt proud of myself for working hard and being able to finally play songs while Group D was still struggling to learn to play notes. In the sixth and seventh grade, I received letters to join the New York City Honor Band. Only students who the director thought were good were able to join. In addition to that, you had to be in the sixth, seventh or eighth grade. Then again in eighth grade, I was invited to join Honor Band and to be in the Woodwind Ensemble. Even though I am not obligated to still play flute, I still practice it. My little brother, who is four years younger, also plays the flute. Not to toot my own horn, but he tells me that he wishes that he could play as well as I do. When I am in a good mood, I will sometimes play along with him and help him out when he makes mistakes. But I want to learn how to play the guitar. My inspiration comes from listening to my favorite bands: Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco, Cobra Starship, Cute Is What We Aim For, and Boys Like Girls. Since I started listening to them, I have fallen more and more in love with music. I am not just confined to just listening to alternative music. The different types of genres of music that I listen to also include: dance, hip-hop, pop, R&B, rock, techno, Chinese pop and rap, alternative Japanese, and Korean rap. Music is a big part of my life and it makes me who I am. To later on have a career in the music industry would be a dream come true. Yes, I do love music but I am not a singer. I want to work behind the scenes, to help artists make it big, to write songs for bands to sing. I want to work for an Indie record label; I prefer small, not-so-well-known bands compared to artists whose songs have been overplayed again and again on the radio. I love writing poems except when I am forced to about a particular topic that I do not like.
