Why is pop music so popular?
I mean, honestly, pop music has ALWAYS been just fluff for your ears, a pretty voice singing about things that their demographic really has no idea about. They don't write their own music, and they definately don't play any instruments. Why is this mindless music so popular. I know the term pop is a shortened word for popular, but besides that, why is it so popular? (P.S. Almost all of the rap music produced today is pop music, people rapping about things they don't actually own, with a record label telling them what kind of image they have to have, what they have to have in their videos, who will write their music for them, and who will make their beats.) WHY?

- becoz it is
- God only knows.
- i dont know.I didnt wonder about that before.i'll search it on the internet
- if you were 50 years old, then your question would have been , why Classical music is classic ;)
- Because it made to be popular. Ever wonder whay everybody listens to the same music anyways??? It is another way to control our lives.
- It is popular because it is something that you can dance to and something that you can feel. It is popular because it is music that rebels against what people in the 1940's and 1950's used to listen to.
- That's like asking what came first, the chicken or the egg. It becomes pop music after it has been found to be POPular. Duh.
- because it sucks, and its much better that mtv and top 40 stations make that popular and have them sell out rather than, stealing away all the good rock bands...and ruining them
- Pop music i guess is like the peer for the younger crowd, they are always looking up the 'musicians' and wanting to be the 'coolest'. and who's cooler than the ones who are told how to be cool?
- pop music is called "pop" because it's short for popular. so therefore, the very definition of what is pop neccesitates that it be popular. but that's being a bit technical, i get what you're saying. and it's popular because apparently 12 year old girls get way too much money from their parents, and not being old enough to know better, buy and support whatever the major corporations tell them to ie manufactured, brainless musical "artists."
