I am into Pop music is this bad?

i am into pop music like kelly clarkson, rihanna, avril lavigne, and alot of other pop singers like this..but the thing is i am a guy...this is the only music i find catchy and good..is this bad? people on the outside see me as listening to Rap hip-hop music but im not really into that music.... now i am always embarassed to bring my ipod to school... is this bad?

Not really, so long as you like the music, who cares what anyone else thinks? I listen to a lot of country, most of my friends, guys AND girls, have no clue who most of the people on my mp3 player are, and they are fine with it, or at least respect my music.

if people u know judge u by the type of music u listen to then that is sad. they obviously are not going to be ready for the real world if who u listen to is more important than u as a person! keep listening to who u like and forget about what others say.

Listen, I'm a guy, not exactly a younger guy either, and I like Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, Ramsey Lewis, Spyro Gyra, ABBA, Creed, Simple Plan, Fantasia, NIckelBack,Kelly Clarkson, Madonna, Diana Ross' older stuff and many other artists. I'll be damned if anyone is going to tell me what kind of music I can like. Don't let anyone make you feel bad just because you have different musical tastes. Those people are just shallow. You like REAL music, Rap music isn't really music, it's chanting to a drum beat. (Quite frankly RAP drives me nuts!) Hip hop is nothing but soul music or pop music with a sprinkling of rap flair thrown into it. Keep in mind I have 400 compact audio discs. You'll find not a single record containing rap music (I use the term MUSIC very lightly in this case) in my house. .Why? Because quite frankly, IT SUCKS! By the way, my sister grew up listening to all the stuff we listen to and more. She's now a professional opera singer, so don't let anyone steal your fire. It's your ears and your life, not theirs.

I like pop music. I have had it bad all my like. I listen to everyone you mentioned. I'm 50 years only now. But there are some that really suck like Britney and Jessica Simpson's sister. To me that's just really annoying bubble gum music.

there's nothing wrong with listening to pop music. easy to find. easy to sing along to. and its always changing. i guess could see why other people would make fun of you because of it, but you dont need to listen to others when they are just judging you off of things like that. if it makes you happy, stick with it. people are dumb. im guessing you are in high school? people there like to make fun of kids not like them because whats different is scary to them. not literally "OMG RUN AND HIDE"-scary. but its foreign. people are going to get a little defensive.
If it's a choice between rap/hip-hop or pop it's gonna be the pop! Besides even as being a metalhead and all-around music freak I like Avril Lavigne, she rocks!
No, it's not a bad thing! So you're into female mainstream artists. So what? I know a lot of people who've never even HEARD of them because they're that lame. It's you're music taste, not some other persons. If they judge you for what you listen to, ignore those bitches. You can listen to whatever music you want. I listen the same mainstream/Top 40 music you listen to, but I listen to alternative/punk/modern rock as well. And I don't care if people judge me for that. It's their problems, not yours. Listen to the music you want! It's totally fine.

Why should you let what others think bother you ? I grew up during the disco days { yep i'm old} and I still like certain songs, I hated the clothes though. I listen to all kinds of music from Jefferson Starship to Mushroomhead, I'll even throw in Kelly Clarkson sometimes, I dont care what others like, I listen to what I like, and you should do the same.
if you like the music then there aint any problem! but if you ask me you need to get into some rock! being gay aint got anything to do with it. the music you listen to needs to be your choice! if you like it then turn it up! if people have a go at what you listen to then thats there problem, they dont have to listen to it if they dont like it.
You like what you like, no one should judge you based on the music you like. That's it. Listen to what you want, don't be embarrassed by your music. Your music doesn't define you.
