9. I'm not a huge fan but in terms of commercial success and lingering popularity 30 years later, it's definitely Madonna. Cher might come close but she's kind of faded out of the mainstream again after her resurgence with "Believe". Right now, I doubt there would be much "buzz" about a new CD from the former Mrs. Bono but a new CD from Madonna is still a somewhat big event. Christina Aguilera COULD be if she maintains success. She's been around now for a decade and is still selling pretty well so she might have the stuff for the long haul. She also seems to have a little more adult appeal than the other girl poppers (Britney, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore) that came out about the same time.
