Who is or who are your most favourite artist/s as in artwork not music artists?

I had to post this again since some people didn't get the idea eventhough I put it under the right category that I was talking about artwork related artistes. *rolls her eyes* I have many favourites myself, I particulary like surreal, abstract, pre-raphaelite and pop art.

  1. Salvador Dali...hes amazing and his works so nutty i love it. i have all sorts of his works around my room.
  2. I love Michael Angelo's Art work, because it is so beautiful and I have seen it with my own eyes. He emphasizes his art in angels and clouds and his art work is found in many churches in Germany. Ps: I also like Carl Spitzweg's art, like "the bookworm. His painting shows a lot of old little town and simple living. I love it.
  3. i love aubrey bearsley and michael hussar they are freakin awesome
  4. Renoir is my all time favorite.
  5. Thanks for asking the question, as it gives me a chance to talk about the fantastic work of Georgia O'Keeffe, who was one of the first women recognized for her artwork. She specialized in very large watercolor paintings of flowers. Her art was somewhat controversial when she was alive, as it was crossing the line as being considered sensual. She spent her latter years in New Mexico, therefore a museum dedicated to her art and life is located there. Her paintings are very popular. My favorite painting is called "Red Canna." I am sure if you do a google search for her name you will be able to see lots of her paintings, however books have been made featuring only her artwork. I made a handmade book featuring all the elements of design and how she used each one in her paintings. It is a treasure piece to me. If you are not familiar with her or her work, I do hope you look her up. Her life is just as fascinating, and radical as her artwork was considered in her time.
  6. Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin I collect books on their work and lives. In Akira Kurosawa's film, "Dreams" one of the several stories is about a man who looks at Van Gogh's "Wheat Field with Crows"painting long enough while standing in a museum that he enters the painting. Gauguin's paintings from Tahiti are very inspiring. My love for these 2 artists comes straight from the heart with no theory or anything else behind it. First reaction , gut response,impulse,....
  7. El Greco, Carravaggio, and Gustav Moreau
  8. Me, Hans Bellmer, Max Ernst, Van Gogh, Yves Tanguy, Paul Wunderlich, Alphonse Mucha, Edvard Munch, Kathe Kollwitz, Dorthea Tanning, Chagall, Franz Marc, Joan Miro, Goya, Hieronymus Bosch, Arshile Gorky, Paul Delvaux, Roberto Matta... { :} Jean-Luc Godard, Alain Resnais, Robert Bresson, Michelangelo Antonioni, The Brothers Quay, Jan Svankmajer, Luis Buñuel, Werner Herzog, Ozu, Volker Schlöndorff, Masahiro Shinoda, Elia Kazan, Sergei Parajanov, Robert Wiene, Ingmar Bergman, Federico Fellini, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Grigori Chukhrai, Mikhail Kalatozov, Zhang Yimou, Vittorio De Sica, Andrei Tarkovsky, etc, etc, etc... } {{ For the hell of it: http://www.matta-art.com/ }}
  9. Even though I do draw, I'm not really an art snob who knows everything about art history. Nevertheless, I have to say that of those "favorite artists" I can't actually link then because a lot of them do "adult art" of various levels. Bob Eggleton, Larry Elmore, Keith Parkinson, Michael Whelan (and not as commercially known, but well known on places like DeviantArt, Elfwood, FurAffinity and a few others---plenty of nicknames and aliases here!): Donna T. Quinn, Cassandra "Ultraviolet" Gunn, Syrinoth (sp?), MarieCannabis, Shinigamigirl, Dark Natasha, Tina Leyk, Adjer Andrei, Max Bertuzzi, Patrick Reichel AKA "ReptileCynrik" Nambroth, Hannah "Akahana (sp?)" JS Davis, Chris Sawyer, Dr. Comet/Den/Karabiner, Max Blackrabbit . . . and the list goes on and on. All of these people produce extremely high-quality stuff far beyond my own ability, whether it's adult oriented or not.
  10. I'm obsessed with Annette Messager. She leaves her pieces open ended, not letting us know too much so we can draw our own conclusions.
