All About Britney Spears

PLEASE HELP!! Can you help me figure out what pop/rock female artist/stong?

I'm trying to remember a song & don't know the artist/group or any of the lyrics, but it's kind of up beat and probably several years old - could even be as old as the 80's or anytime more recent. A song a woman singing maybe about love that didn't work out or love she is in pursuit of or she'll be fine without him - or maybe none of those themes? She has a clear voice, it's not real moody music, not metal, not hard rock, not country, fun to sing to, not Heart, not Alanis Morisette, not Paramore, not Nightwish. It's upbeat (moderate to fast), makes you want to tap your feet & sing along. Just a list of possible female vocalists w/clear voice, upbeat tempo songs would be most helpful. My knowledge of pop/rock is very limited but I really want to find & purchase this song. It was stuck in my mind the other day & has been driving me nuts ever since because I can't remember lyrics or tune! Otherwise, i'd have a better chance of finding it. Thank you!!!
