How do I find music from new and upcoming female alternative artists for my online radio station?

I currently listen to other people's female alternative music stations online to find new and upcoming artists that I would like to play on my radio station. However, are there better ways of locating great music from new female artists?

On the subject of finding new female artists, I usually hear about new artists on myspace, and in their top friends is usually other similar artists they know and so on. I find a lot of new acts I like that way! Also, try looking up who's playing the showcases like SxSW (South by South West) this summer as loads of up-and-coming acts play them!
