Can someone describe political influence of Dutch pop music?
I want to know how the world's political condition influence the Dutch music scene. For example the Vietnam War, how does the war shaped the music of the coming generation? thanks... it's for a school paper, so please be thourough.

- I can't think of any influence that Dutch pop music has had. Give me some band names that you believe may have had some influence. I may not realize they are Dutch.

- Some bands and singers followed the example set by their American counterparts and became protest singers. Boudewijn de Groot made a song for example called Mister President http://youtube.com/watch?v=RgUcRU3kUWc&feature=related It has strong powerful lyrics in Dutch that poetically deliver a message of pascifism and reject violence. Dutch pop music pretty much followed the trend set by the Americans though in the eighties there was a Nederpop movement where groups like Doe Maar dared to touch on purely Dutch themes such as their famous song nederwiet, a funny defense of the Dutch cananbis policy
